Fuzhou, a city with a long history, profound cultural background and abundant civilization heritage, has an excellent ecological environment, beautiful natural scenery and a wide variety of local specialties. Fuzhou’s rich resources are the great potential for the development of its tourism.

First, Fuzhou is a city which enjoys a widespread reputation of "the Birthplace of Talents" and "Home of Culture". Of The Eight Literature Masters of Tang and Song Dynasties, two came from Fuzhou, who were Wang Anshi and Zeng Gong. Wang was praised by Lenin as the reformer of China in the 11th century. Zeng was an outstanding and famous writer in the Chinese history. His literary work was highlighted as the most shining star in the sky when compared with others’. What’s more, “The Oriental Shakespeare” Tang Xianzu was also born in Fuzhou and lived in Fuzhou for more than 50 years until death and was buried in Fuzhou. Besides, there are also other ancient celebrities springing up in Fuzhou, such as “the Neo-Confucianism Master” Lu Jiuyuan, Poet Yan Shu and his son poet Yan Jidao. All of them has made a profound influence on China’s history and culture. Still on this magical land, many modern cultural celebrities from Fuzhou such as Shu tong ,You Guo'en, and Sheng Zhongguo have made significant contributions to the Chinese culture as well. Nowadays, Fuzhou’s elementary education is well known in China, and for over a decade, Fuzhou’s Gaokao scores ranked first in Jiangxi province. Among the top list of the provincial Gaokao scores, over half are from Fuzhou. Over ten thousand students from other cities are attracted to Fuzhou as a result of its reputation.  .

Second, Fuzhou is a city with abundant cultural characteristics. Because of the infiltration of Linchuan culture, every mountain has its own stories, every river has its own culture and every county (district) has its own celebrities. For instance, Mount Magu, located in Nancheng County, was named after a woman who became an immortal here. It is a treasured place famous for its locational greatness and natural caves. It left us with varieties of well-known fairy tales, such as "Change world", "Magu toast birth", "Turn rice into Dan Medicine” and so on. Here is also the place where Yan Zhenqin, a celebrity in Tang dynasty, wrote down the best regular script "Immortals’ Forum of Magu” when travelling here. Mount Dajueshan, a great tourist attraction located in Zixi county, is renowned as “ First Drift in Asia”, boasting the most thrilling canyoning. It is 3 km long in total with a drop height of 180 meters to the ground. In addition, Dajue Rocky Temple here, located in the natural caves, combines three religions ---Confucianism, Buddhism, and Daoism, making it a traditional religious destination for pilgrimage. Caoshan temple in Yihuang county, with a long history of 1,200 years, is the cradle of Caodong Sect. It was built in a lotus-shaped mountain--Mount Caoshan by a Tang monk called Benji. Shushan Temple, Dajinshan Temple and Zhengjue Temple are also the famous ancient temples with a long history of more than one thousand years. Hongmen Lake in Nancheng County is a dreamlike lake: The beautiful scenery presenting in front of our eyes is like thousands of islands floating away with a boundless stretch of clear water and the endless mountains and waves. As the legend goes, this place was the birthplace of Hongmen Bang. It is also said that there was a tomb group of seigniors’ descendants of Ming dynasty under water. It is such a mysterious area that has left archaeologists and textual researchers of the "Hongmen" culture too many mysteries. Besides, as their names suggest, the Dream lake of Fuzhou urban area, the Dragon Lake of Chongren county, the Jiulong Lake of Zixi county, and Tan Lake of Nanfeng county are full of magic. As the saying goes, “Each place has its own way of supporting its inhabitants”, every county (district) in Fuzhou’s history saw more than one Jinshi in a family. For example, Zeng Gong was from an ordinary farm family in Nan Feng. However, there had been 19 Jinshi in his family since Zenggong’s grandfather Zeng Zhiyao was crowned as Jinshi.

Third, Fuzhou is a glamorous green city which is pleasant for living. With good air quality and forest coverage of 64.5 percent, Fuzhou has beautiful ecological environment. With picturesque scenery and fresh air, Fuzhou topped the list of 50 Chinese mainland “oxygen bar” cities by Standard Ranking Research Institute of China last year. It is a splendid place for traveling and residence. Guangchang county boasts thousands of hectares of lotus. The emerald lotus leaves reach as far as where water and skies meet, and lotus blossoms bathed in sunshine exhibit a distinctive dazzling pink. Nanfeng county attracts many tourists all through the year by turning 700000 acres of orange farmland into a tour garden. The age-old camphor tree in Niutian, Le’an county is certified as “Chinese No.1 age-old camphor tree” by Shanghai Great World Guinness. Yaoxi scenic spot in Guangchang county certified by the Guinness book of world records has become "the world's largest lotus pool". Fuzhou is also abundant in hot spring resources such as Linchuan hot springs, Zixi fashui hot springs, Nanfeng orange hot springs, and Tangxi hot springs. These hot springs contains rich  microelements that are good for man’s health. Fuzhou has also been entitled by national ministries as “Land of Oranges(Nanfeng)”, “Land of White Lotus(Guangchang)”, “Land of Watermelon(Linchuan)” , Land of Bread (Zixi), Land of Torreya Grandis (Lichuan), “Land of Ma-Chicken(Chongren)” and “Land of Pigs” (Dongxiang) . Like its beautiful scenery, people enjoy its organic food and flavor snacks so much. Traveling in the green kingdom, you can experience different scenery during four seasons: enjoying flowers in the Spring, admiring the lotus in the Summer , tasting oranges in the Fall, and relaxing in hot springs in the Winter.

Finally, Fuzhou is a city with many ancient villages. Fuzhou has a rich culture of the ancient villages with a large number of representative ancient towns preserved. Liukeng in Le'an County, founded in the fifth dynasties, is a microcosm of China's feudal patriarchal society. The famous traveler in the Ming dynasty---Xu Xiake once made a tour to Liukeng village, and praised it as “the city of thousands families” . Liukeng, with all kinds of folk customs, is the real "cultural relics" to arouse the nostalgia of the villagers.  "The Millennium town" - Huwan Town in Jinxi county, with markets formed in the Southern Song Dynasty, has had nine traditional ancient streets well preserved which are two hundred or three hundred meters long. Among them, the famous Bookstore Street was once the largest book distribution center in the Song and Ming dynasties, which survived two brilliant centuries from the time of its rise to its peak, and gained the great reputation of “ No Huwan, no fully-printed books”. In addition, Fuzhou also has a large number of historical towns and villages such as Yiqian town in Guangchang, Old village with bamboo bridge in Jinxi, Ancient boat-shaped houses in Lichuan and so on, all of which have deep root in rich historical culture with various kinds of architectures scattering inside these villages. If you look around Fuzhou’s countryside, you will find something artistic, such as stone lion gates with carved dragon and phoenix on them, and ancient poetic couplets written on the Chinese-red lucky papers, adding glitters to houses. Above all, The Chinese often believe that human beings are shaped by the land around them. At the same time, this land nourished numerous intabgible cultural heritage, like Fuzhou Tea Picking Opera, Nanfeng Nuo Dance, Yihuang Erhuang Tune and so on, whose charm endures.
